Your personal safety is the top priority. All volunteers must read and understand these guidelines before participating in any Snow Bounty activities.
Core Safety Rules
This is a non-negotiable safety requirement. Under no circumstances should you enter the home, garage, shed, or any enclosed structure belonging to the person you are helping.
- Remain outside at all times during volunteer activities
- Decline all invitations to enter a residence, regardless of the reason
- If you need water, rest, or restroom access, return to your own home
- If anyone insists you enter, leave immediately and report to a trusted adult
When assisting people you don't know, you must be accompanied by a trusted adult. This includes a parent, legal guardian, adult sibling (18+), or an adult family friend approved by your parents.
- Never assist unfamiliar individuals without adult supervision
- Work in pairs or groups whenever possible
- Maintain visual contact with your partner at all times
Before leaving, make sure your parent or guardian knows:
- Location: The exact address where you'll be volunteering
- Identity: The name of the person you're helping
- Duration: Your expected time of return
- Companions: Who will be with you
